A 3-dimensional cake I made way back. Both layers were made edible. If I remember correctly this one was marbled hazelnut.
With this cake I learned the value of planning waaaay ahead. In making fondant cakes, you really have to be strategic as gumpaste takes time to dry. I had to plan which elements were going to be made with gumpaste and which parts were to be fondant.
At the end of the day though, you can’t always expect that everything will go smoothly. So yes there’s always a plan, but I’ve taught myself to be able to wing it when some things don’t work as well in reality as they did in my mind.
